JUMPSTART EE PROGRAM: LEVEL 2

Build a Computer. Build Your Résumé. Prepare for Your Internship.

Transform classroom knowledge into real engineering experience. Build a computer from scratch while preparing for internships, technical interviews, and your future career.

JumpSTART Level 2 combines hands-on hardware design with professional development to help you build the confidence, technical experience, and interview skills needed to compete for internships.

By the end of the program, you'll have a completed engineering project you can proudly showcase on your résumé and discuss during interviews.

Enroll in level 2 today!

Good Grades Aren't Enough. Experience Sets You Apart.

Many engineering students earn good grades but still struggle to stand out because colleges and employers are looking for more than classroom knowledge.

They want to see that you've built, tested, and solved real engineering problems.

JumpSTART Level 2 bridges that gap by giving you hands-on experience building a computer from scratch while developing the technical and professional skills that set successful engineers apart.

By the end of the program, you'll have a completed engineering project that demonstrates your skills and helps you stand out when applying to engineering colleges, internships, and future engineering opportunities.

ENROLL NOW

From Individual Components to a Working Computer.

More Than a Project—A Competitive Advantage.

Unlike traditional courses that focus primarily on theory, JumpSTART Level 2 puts you in the engineer's seat.

Throughout the program, you'll build a working computer one block at a time while learning the concepts behind each component.

Each week you'll add another piece—from input/output systems and memory to the arithmetic logic unit (ALU), control logic, and program counter—until your computer comes to life.

By building each subsystem yourself, you'll gain the hands-on experience and confidence that lectures alone can't provide.

Why JumpSTART Level 2 Is Different

Most engineering courses teach concepts.

JumpSTART Level 2 teaches you how to apply them.

Instead of simply learning how a computer works, you'll build one from the ground up while developing the technical and professional skills that help you stand out.

This program combines hands-on engineering with career preparation so you leave with more than knowledge—you leave with experience.

Inside JumpSTART Level 2, You'll:

This isn't another boring prep course.

  • Build a working computer from scratch
  • Learn computer architecture by assembling each subsystem
  • Gain hands-on experience with real engineering hardware
  • Develop problem-solving skills used by practicing engineers
  • Prepare for engineering colleges, internships, and technical interviews
  • Complete a project that showcases your skills and gives you a competitive advantage

By the end of the program, you'll have far more than a deeper understanding of computer architecture—you'll have the confidence, technical experience, and completed engineering project that sets you apart from other students.

Taught by Dr. Oren Gall, Electrical Engineering Expert & Educator

About Dr. Oren Gall

Dr. Oren Gall is an electrical engineer, educator, and mentor with over 20 years of industry experience and more than 10 years of teaching electrical engineering at the university level, including at Penn State.

Throughout his career, he's noticed a common challenge: many engineering students graduate with strong classroom knowledge but very little hands-on experience or confidence applying what they've learned.

That's why he created JumpSTART Level 2: Internship Prep.

This program is designed to bridge the gap between theory and real-world engineering by giving students the opportunity to build a computer from scratch, develop practical problem-solving skills, and gain experience they can confidently discuss in college interviews, internship applications, and future engineering careers.

But technical skills are only part of the equation.

Throughout the program, Dr. Gall also mentors students on choosing an engineering path, preparing for internships, communicating technical projects, and developing the professional skills that help future engineers stand out.

His philosophy is simple:

The best way to learn engineering is to build it.

By combining hands-on technical training with career preparation, Dr. Gall's mission is to help students graduate from the program with more than knowledge—they leave with confidence, experience, and a competitive advantage as they begin their engineering journey.
